Chapter 14
Removing and Replacing FRUs from the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Routers
To remove the Cisco ASR1000-RP and then the eUSB device from the chassis, follow these steps:

Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap between you and an unpainted router surface.

If connected, remove any I/O cables from the Cisco ASR1000-RP.

Using a number two Phillips or a 3/16-inch flat-blade screwdriver, loosen the two captive screws on

the faceplate of the Cisco ASR1000- RP.
Using the handles on both sides of the module, with two hands, gently slide the module out of the

chassis slot.
Caution
Handle the Cisco ASR1000-RP by the carrier edges only; never touch the printed circuit board
components or connector pins.
Place the Cisco ASR1000-RP module on an antistatic surface with its printed circuit board

components facing upward.
Locate the eUSB device on the ASR1000 Series RP board.

eUSB component on the Cisco ASR1000-RP1 and
component on the Cisco ASR1000-RP2 route processor.
