PROC
The failing item a system processor card.
1. Attempt a SLOW OVERRIDE IPL to run full processor hardware diagnostics.
2. Is this system a Model 830 with SB2 System Unit and FC 9074 ?
3. See "Locations — Models 830, SB2 System Unit with FC 9074 Base I/O Tower"
4. This is a Model 840, SB3 System Unit and FC 9079 Base I/O Tower.
This ends the procedure.

Expansion I/O tower FC 5074, FC
5078/0578, FC 5079
Base I/O tower FC 9074
Base I/O tower FC 9079
Expansion I/O tower FC 5075
External xSeries Server
Power off the system from the control panel. Change the IPL mode to manual,
and the IPL speed to SLOW OVERRIDE (S) using control panel function 2.
Power on the system.
Does the same SRC occur ?
Yes
No
↓
Follow the service actions for the new SRC.
Yes
No
↓
Go to Step 4 of this procedure.
on page 709.
Replace the following FRUs in order one at a time until the problem is
resolved. See "Chapter 4. Removal and Installation Procedures" on page 617.
Note: Be sure to IPL in SLOW OVERRIDE mode after each replacement.
a. Processor Card in location M03 in the System Unit
b. Processor Card in location M04 in the System Unit
See "Locations — Models 840, SB3 System Unit with Processor Tower and FC
9079 Base I/O Tower" on page 719. Replace the following FRUs in order one at
a time until the problem is resolved. See "Chapter 4. Removal and Installation
Procedures" on page 617.
Note: Be sure to IPL in SLOW OVERRIDE mode after each replacement.
a. Processor Card 3 in location M16 in the System Unit
b. Processor Card 1 in location M18 in the System Unit
c. Processor Card 2 in location M06 in the System Unit
d. Processor Card 0 in location M05 in the System Unit
Action:
There are two potential failing items.
Exchange symbolic FRU "SIADPCD" on
page 582. If the problem still exists after
powering on the frame or tower then
exchange symbolic FRU "TWRPLNR" on
page 602.
Go to symbolic FRU "TWRBKPL" on
page 601.
Go to symbolic FRU "SIADPCD" on
page 582.
