The following describes the choices available on this
screen.
Select Software: This option is used when more than one
operating system is installed on the same disk drive. AIX
does not support multiple operating systems on a single
disk drive. Multiple AIX images can be installed on
separate disk drives; the desired disk drive can be
selected for booting using the Select Boot Device
function in System Management Services or the AIX
diagnostic service aid Display or Change Bootlist.
If Select Software is chosen from this menu, a line
similar to the following is displayed:

AIX 5.1.0 <-
This indicates the current version of AIX that is installed
on the system. If a 1 is entered, the system will boot AIX.
If you receive an informational message saying that no
operating system is installed, then the system information
in nonvolatile storage may have been lost. This situation
can occur if the battery has been removed. To correct this
situation, refer to the boot sequence option on this menu.
Software Default: This option is used when more than
one operating system is installed on the same disk drive.

Install From: Enables you to select a media drive from
which to install an operating system. Selection of a device
is done using the spacebar.
