8-6-2. SD SDI Free-running Frequency
Adjustment
Tools
. Oscilloscope:
TEKTRONIX TDS3054B
or equivalent
. Frequency counter: ADVANTEST R5362B
or equivalent
. Extension board:
EX-873 (VPR-79 board suffix: -11
only)
Preparation
1. Extend the VPR-79 board with an extension
board EX-873. (Board suffix: -11 only)
After turning off the power, extend the VPR-79 board.
2. Connect the oscilloscope.
Connect the frequency counter to the CH-2 output of the
oscilloscope, and set the oscilloscope as follows.
CH-2: DC2 V/DIV
TIME: 100 uS/DIV
3. System setting.
Set the system to the 1080/29.97 PsF or 1080/25 PsF mode
referring to Section 8-1-3.
4. Check that the equipment has warmed up.
Before starting the adjustment, warm up the VTR and
other equipment by applying power to them for 10 minutes
or more.

SD SDI Free-running Frequency Adjustment

1. Display the SD OUT ADJUST menu.
(HOME menu → [SFT] + [DIAG] → [SFT] + [F8]
→ [ALT] → [F6] → SD OUT ADJUST menu)
(For the SD OUT ADJUST menu, refer to Section 3-4-
4.)
2. Press the [F1] (SDI PLL) key several times for the
setting to ON.
3. Connect the CH-2 input of the oscilloscope to TP1200/
VPR-79 (B-1).
4. Check the value of the frequency counter, then
perform adjustment.

5. Change the connection of the CH-2 input of the
oscilloscope to TP1201/VPR-79 (A-1).
6. Check the value of the frequency counter, then
perform adjustment.

7. Exit the maintenance mode.
8. Reset the system to the customer setting referring to
Section 8-1-3.
