Replacing a Failing Power Supply Unit

Replace only a failing power supply unit.
Do not remove a power supply unit operating normally.
with two power supplies and one of the power supplies operates
normally (with the power lamp of the power supply being on),
the other failing power supply can be replaced under the system
operation (or in the power-on status). In this case, skip step 2 in
the procedure below.
1. Check the Power Fail lamp (amber) of the power supply units on the rear of the
server to determine which module requires replacement.
2. Shutdown the server and power off the server.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the failing power supply unit.
4. While pressing down on the locking tab (1), hold the handle and carefully pull
the power supply out of the power supply bay (2).

To avoid damaging the power supply unit, do not tilt or twist the
unit as you pull it from the power supply bay. The initial resis-
tance you will feel is caused by the module disengaging from its
connector. Use even, steady force to remove the unit.
