Problems with the Express Server
Error message when using the Boot-On-LAN feature with Microsoft® Remote
Installation Service:
The SAS ROMB (RAID On MotherBoard) feature requires 22 kB of conventional
memory. This reduction in memory is known to cause a problem when using the Boot-
On-LAN feature with the Microsoft Remote Installation Service (RIS). The following
message will be displayed:
If Microsoft RIS is required to be used on this server, then it is necessary to run with
SAS ROMB disabled (see "Enabling the RAID Feature" on page 91) or use additional
hardware to provide the RAID functionality (LSILogic MegaRAID SAS 8408E or LSI
MegaRAID SAS ZCR 8300XLP).
The server does not power on:

Is the server properly supplied with power?
- Check if the power cord is connected to a power outlet (or UPS) that meets the
power specifications for the server.
- Make sure to use the power cord provided with the server. Check the power
cord for broken shield or bent plugs.
- Make sure the power breaker for the connected power outlet is on.
- If the power cord is plugged to a UPS, make sure the UPS is powered and it out-
puts power. See the manual that comes with the UPS for details.
Power supply to the server may be linked with the connected UPS using the
CMOS Setup utility of the server.

Did you press the POWER switch?
- Press the POWER switch on the front of the server to turn on the power (the
POWER/SLEEP lamp lights).
The server does not power on:
■ Is the power switch enabled?
- Restart the server and start the BIOS SETUP utility.

Windows NT has found only 509K of low memory.
512K of low memory is required to run Windows
NT. You may need to upgrade your computer or run
a configuration program provided by the manufac-
turer.
