    FOLDING AND STORAGE When you are done riding the XG-550 you can fold it down for compact storage and transportation. To fold down the XG-550, use one hand to push down on the folding handle while also gently pushing down on the handlebars.

    BRAKING SYSTEM The XG-550 uses both a front wheel disc/caliper braking system activated by a hand brake lever on each side of the handlebar. Squeezing the hand brake lever with your left hand activates the front brake. Squeezing the hand brake lever with your right hand activates the rear brake.

    TIRES AND WHEELS The X-Treme XG-550 uses an identical rim and tires assembly on the front and rear wheels, which means that the tires can be rotated. The wheels are actually two wheel halves (split rim) bolted together to make it easier to remove and replace the tire and tube.

    ADJUSTING THE HEAD UNIT The head unit will should come adjusted from the factory. However, riding on rough terrain and general use may cause the head unit to become loose over time. It may be necessary to adjust the head unit from time to time. To adjust the head unit: 1.

    How To Adjust Chain Tension 1.) To set the chain tension, loosen the axle nuts. 2.) Then locate the chain tension bolts. These bolts go from the rear axle to the frame. When you tighten the nuts on these bolts, they pull the whole axle and wheel back, tightening the chain.

    4.) Verify brake pads are position correctly. 5.) Push the axle through until it just sticks out the other side of the wheel. 6.) Add the Larger Spacer and push axle through the fork on the Right Side. 7.) Start Nut on end of Axle. 8.) Using two 17mm wrenches tighten the outside Axle Nuts snugly and evenly.

    How To Know What Each Battery Connection Wire Is 1.) The heavy gauge red wire connects from the battery positive to the starter relay. 2.) The small gauge red wire connects from the battery positive to the fuse holder via the white connector.

    How To Install Bearings 1.) Remove the rear wheel. 2.) Remove the old bearing. To do this, you will need to insert something, like a screw driver, from the opposite side and simply push it out. 3.) Put the new bearings in. You will want to use something like a rubber mallet so you do not crack the bearings.

    2.) Unplug the two white connectors at the end of the fuse holder wires. 3.) Remove the large nut on the back side of the fuse holder. 4.) Slide the nut over the wire connectors one at a time and remove fuse holder from frame.

    Either thee spring on the clutch may be gone or the bell has come off the transmission. Troubleshooting: Bad Starter Solenoid? The starter solenoid is a round piece down under the footplate. It has a rubber cap on it. Remove this cap and you will see two bolts. Take a screw driver and short across those bolts (you might get a little spark, but not enough to hurt you).
