NS170 User Guide - Upgrading your Server
Connecting a Disk Array Controller
If IDE disks are installed, the disk array controller (S-ATA) can be connected to the
server. The disk array controller (S-ATA) is an optional PCI RAID board provided to
improve the data reliability. It supports RAID5 and the RAID levels supported by the
onboard controller (RAID0 and RAID1).
If SCSI disks are installed, the disk array controller can be connected to the server. The
internal hard disk drives, as well as the hard disks installed in the optional disk addition
chassis can be subject to the disk array configuration. If so, the supported RAID
configuration includes RAID0 (striping), RAID1 (mirroring), and RAID5 (striping and
parity).
